The Selsdon Wellbeing Centre is run by Ian & Julie Ferris
from their Foxearth Spur home in Selsdon.

Julie Ferris Dip ITEC
Complementary Health
Practitioner |
Julie’s interest
in Reiki sparked her journey into complementary health, which
she is still exploring by investigating
and learning new therapies, to add to the Centre’s
list. Julie is a member of the International Guild of Professional
Practitioners (IGPP).
Julie also studied Aikido in the 1970’s but stopped
when she became pregnant with their first child.
For the last 13 years Julie has been working part time at
a local primary school, of which the last 5 years has been
as a pupil support assistant. She is working with children
who have a variety of special needs.
"Complementary therapy is
becoming popular. Nowadays people need a certain period
of time that they can set aside
for themselves. We all need to do that. We need to say ‘this
time is for me’.
I really enjoy seeing the change in people.
They come in through the door, they look tired, worn out
and down, then
walk out the door a little later with a sparkle in their
eyes looking like they can get on with their week."

Ian Ferris Dip BSS MIPTI
Complementary Health
Practitioner |
Ian gave up his role of 15 years, working
in local government for Croydon Council, in order to start
the Selsdon Wellbeing
Centre – “I decided to go into business with
my wife Julie, and open a complementary health centre. We
believe
that we have found the key to good health and happiness.”
Ian is a member of both the Croydon and London Chambers
of Commerce & Industry.
Ian is a Graduate member of the UK Shiatsu Society and has
been practising martial arts since the 1970's, attaining
black belts in both Aikido & Judo. Ian is currently teaching
Judo at the Biggin Hill Judo Club every Wednesday evening.
Ian also volunteers his time to help cancer
patients through the Complementary Cancer Care Trust in Bexley.
"The
reason why I do it more than anything else is because
I love helping people, seeing people become different
from when they walked in through the door.
I’ve always been interested in alternative health
and the lure of dedicating my time to complementary medicine
finally
became too strong at the beginning of September 2003 when
Julie and myself opened the Selsdon centre.
It is natural so it works with the body, as pills do not
necessarily work with the underlying cause. It’s
preventative so it keeps all the body balanced."
